Homeschooling is probably one of the most fulfilling, albeit challenging commitments a parent could ever make. Homeschooling is not easy and demands a lot from a parent, but the rewards are invaluable once you see it through. To help you decide on whether or not homeschooling is for you, here are some questions that you need to ask yourself:

  1. Can you fully commit your time, energy, and abilities to teach your child at home?
  2. Can you commit to, at least, four hours of homeschooling a day? (two hours for younger children)
  3. Will you be able to provide your child with a positive learning environment where he is free from fear and danger?
  4. Is your reason for homeschooling any or all of the following?:

    a. To inculcate Christian values in my child

    b. To instill a love for learning in my child

    c. To help my child be the best he can be

    d. To protect my child from negative influences

    e. To build a strong family relationship

  5. Are you willing to give up time for yourself to make your child’s schooling a priority?
  6. Are you willing to make homeschooling a way of life such that you can turn everyday events into learning experiences?
  7. Are you and your husband one in your decision to homeschool your child?
  8. Do you and your husband have a solid relationship and teach your child by example?
  9. Are you willing to become a student again to study the things you need to teach?
  10. Is your child willing to be homeschooled?

Are you willing to schedule your housework, small business, or job around homeschooling, making it the priority?
